The Spherical roller thrust bearings have spherically contoured rollers, arranged in a steep angular position. They can therefore accommodate high thrust loads, support moderate radial loads and permit relatively high speed operation. An important characteristic of spherical roller thrust bearings is their self-aligning capability.
This makes the bearings less sensitive to shaft deflection and misalignment of the shaft relative to the housing in comparison to other thrust bearings.
